About the Mississippi Ancestors
My Mississippi Ancestors are through my Mom's paternal line and hail from the Mississippi Delta with roots back to Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland. I began to focus on the family connections on this side of the family after July 1991 after realizing just how closely connected my neighbor, James Hankerson, Jr. was to my maternal Grandfather, William "Red" Eubanks as they were double cousins in more ways than one.

The Smith, Jones, Woolfolk, Weathers (originally Weathersly), and Sallywhite families were all enslaved and residing in Yazoo County with many relatives and descendants of allied families to include Lampkin, Ramsey, Collins, Owens, Harris, Creighton, Ball, Page/Paige, Simmons, Cheatham, Campbell, Pinkston, Pendleton, Williams, Edwards, Gadberry, Mountzion, Stuckey, Jenkins, and Nutall families. Many of these families were heavily intertwined as well as interrelated in multiple ways connecting Yazoo, Humphreys, Madison, Sunflower, Ittabena, Issaqueena, Attala, Hinds, Copiah, and other counties in the Mississippi Delta. This side of the family is through my Mom's paternal Grandmother, Henrietta "China" Jones-Eubanks. The DNA connections from these families connect some of my Mississippi roots to Kentucky, Virginia, and Maryland specifically on four key lines. In addition, the DNA connections through Grandma Kizzie specifically have a deep South Carolina connection.
The enslaving Sallis, Roby (originally Robey in MD), Wyse/Wise, Stingley, Harmon, and Teague families of central Mississippi make up a huge conglomerate of well connected land owning families as well as the Enslaved families and their descendants. More specifically, identifying William Sallis as the father of my 2x Great-Grandfather, Harvey Eubanks, Sr. was a major brick wall buster as it aligned so many things form both a paper trail and DNA perspective. The Sallis and other allied families side of the family has deep roots going back to Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and Maryland.
Another major brick wall buster was connecting with my Roby, Snow, Simmons, Teague/Tigue/Tiggs, Harmon, Stingley, Sudduth, Bates, Perteet, Ellis, Clark, Storey, Brown, and Singleton cousins found through DNA which brought me to Grandpa Harvey's maternal side. Many of these families migrated from Mississippi to Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, and other parts of Mississippi from Attala and Holmes counties. The roots from this side of the family traces back to Alabama, Georgia, the Carolinas, Virginia, and Maryland as well.
